About me

I write from the middle of change — not from the other side of it.

My name is Svetlana. My mother called me Svetlanka. I was born in Leningrad - now St. Petersburg - and today I live between Copenhagen and Marbella.

I have lived in different languages, different countries, and different versions of myself. Some chosen. Some forced. Some only understood years later.

Professionally, I have spent many years in two very different but connected worlds: developing markets as a Regional Sales Manager, and later helping people navigate change as a career coach.

Worlds Within is not a coaching platform.

It is my personal journal.

I started it because I was tired of reading things written at women - advice dressed as empathy, transformation stories with tidy endings, and polished versions of becoming that left out the mess.

Here I write about identity, beauty, aging, health, illness, recovery, travel, family, easy food and the small moments that make us stop and think: something in me is changing.

My own life has had many chapters. I moved from the Soviet Union to Denmark. I went through divorce and raised my children largely on my own in a foreign country. I have lost people I loved.

I have gone through breast cancer, lost a breast, rebuilt my body, lost confidence, and found it again in fragments.

I don’t believe resilience is always heroic.

Sometimes it is making dinner. Sometimes it is laughing at the wrong moment. Sometimes it is putting on lipstick when you feel like a worm. Sometimes it is walking outside, writing one honest sentence, or admitting you do not know what comes next.

I write because the unfinished parts of life are often the most truthful.

If something in this feels familiar, you are welcome here.
